Work-in-progress, part of a longer work documenting Yamantaka
This video shows the final day of Yamantaka, a Tibetan Buddhist high yoga tantra ritual held at Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, India, in the Fall of 2010. Over the course of ten days, monks created an elaborate sand mandala and ritual cakes, chanted, prayed, and meditated for the benefit of all living beings. On the last day, the mandala was swept into a vase and released into the world as a blessing.
Made possible by the support of Asian Cultural Council. In appreciation and gratitude to His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama and Namgyal Monastery for the opportunity to witness and document this event.
